can be taken to extreme
can't get food to mouth!

Okay, I get asceticism... to a point, giving up all worldly goods for a spiritual calling.

But...

How did this fellow come up with this creative idea?
How long does he stay like this?
I must say... impressive!

DEFINITION of this 4-syllable adjective:

sparing or moderate in eating and drinking; temperate in diet.
characterized by abstinence: an abstemious life.
sparing: an abstemious diet.
