a mimesis of
Leo's design nature summed:
biomimicry
Picture
Leonardo da Vinci is one of my heroes. He was certainly a biomimicry designer, scientist and biologist, disecting — figuratively and literally — all kinds of natural creations to discover how they worked.

His prodigiously creative mind was way ahead of the technology and materials needed to manifest many of his ideas, but unlike Jules Verne (another hero), who wrote about fantastic things, Leo was able to build a lot of them. Look for — or look out for — "Leonardo da Vinci and the Soldiers of Forever," a Hollywood invention of Leonardo as an Indiana Jones-type... ? ... Jury's out.

DEFINITION of this 3-syllable noun:
  1. Rhetoric. imitation or reproduction of the supposed words of another, as in order to represent his or her character.

The Word of the Day comes from Dictionary.com. Use the word in your own haiku and add to the comments.

Improve your vocabulary and your haiku skills at the same time! If you don't know the definition, it's below, but see if you can figure it out from the haiku and/or image.

Poet and designer, David Alan Foster has been experimenting with haiku since the '70s. He has inspired (or possibly offended) many with said experiments.
